Pineapple Fest

$5.00$60.00

Pineapples were once a major crop in the Stuart and Jensen Beach area where they were the top producers of the fruit in world.  A series of freezes, competition from Cuba, a rapidly spreading pineapple blight, and lack of fertilizer during World War I wiped out the pineapple production in Florida. Each November Stuart's neighbor, Jensen Beach, hosts a festival celebrating the heritage of pineapple plantations and their role in establishing the vibrant community.  Our joyful print comes in both a multi-colored version and a solid print in Marina.

About the fabrics:

Faux Linen – 7 oz per yard – 100% polyester – 54” wide.  A lightweight, linen texture fabric with a terrific drape.  Best for drapery, decorative pillows, and bedding.  Dry clean only due to substantial shrinkage and staining from water based solvents.  We recommend vacuuming and dusting to keep fabrics fresh.

Cotton Poplin – 6 oz per yard – 100% cotton – 58” wide. A light cotton with a smooth hand that irons well. Best for clothing, light bedding and table décor.  Wash fabric before use and expect 2 – 4% shrinkage in length and width.  Use a mild, phosphate free detergent and wash with cold water on gentle/delicate cycle.  Tumble dry low/delicate and iron using the cotton setting.  Some fading may occur with dark colors, especially when using a front loading washer due to the vigorous tumbling.

Linen Cotton – 7 oz per yard – 55% linen/45% cotton – 54” wide.  A natural fabric that can be used for home décor and clothing.  It has all the characteristics of linen – wrinkles easily, is cool, and has a texture hand but is softer due to the addition of the cotton fibers.  Dry cleaning is recommended, however you can machine wash on gentle/delicate with cold water and tumble dry on low.  Remove the fabric from the dryer while it is still slightly damp and immediately iron on linen setting to get the best results and smoothest fabric.

Textured Sheers – 4.6 oz per yard – 100% polyester – 54” wide. Best for sheer drapery. Very lightweight with a linen texture.  If washing, expect a 3% shrinkage in both length and width. Use a mild, phosphate free detergent and wash with cold water on gentle/delicate cycle.  Tumble on dry low/delicate.

Upholstery Cotton – 12 oz per yard – 100% cotton – 58” wide.  A heavyweight, textured cotton canvas. Best for upholstery, home décor items, and tote bags.  Spot cleaning with mild soap and cold water.  Dry clean only.
