Pantone’s 2019 Color of the Year is perfect for coastal and tropical decorating.

The color, “Living Coral,” works with both cool and warm color schemes adding a touch of vibrancy to any decor.  Pantone describes the color as “Vibrant, yet mellow PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment.”  Along the coast, coral tones have never gone out of style.  But the way we use it and the colors we pair it with have changed over the years.  Coral looks great with any shade of blue or green.  If you want drama, pair coral with navy blue for an updated nautical style.  If you want something warmer, mix coral with turquoise for a juicy, cheerful vibe.  Or, go for a more natural look and blend coral with various shades of green and brown for a tropical feeling.  Remember that small changes can have a big impact.  If you want to give Living Coral a try, bring in a couple of pillows or lamps featuring the color to see how you like it before going all in.

Pantone’s 2019 color of the year

Pairing Pantone’s 2019 color of the year, Living Coral, with turquoise creates a warm and welcoming color palette. We painted the color block up near the ceiling to draw the eye up and give the room some architectural detail. Added plus, it helps deflect the eye from the awkward doorway in this small space.
